New to Second Life?

If you're new to Second Life please visit the CSI: New York Virtual Experience web site.
Once there you can pick your Avatar Name, decide what you want your Avatar to look like, and register for Second Life. You'll also get to learn about navigating the virtual world and participate in a great virtual experience from CSI:New York!

Already have a Second Life?

If you are already a user of Second Life there are a few things you should know. This Viewer is our release 1.0 and you will see a number of changes to menu options and the top and bottom toolbars. The OnRez Viewer was designed with the new user in mind, making the user interface more intuitive to improve the Second Life experience. We’ve also incorporated several bug fixes in the Viewer, you can learn more about those by reading the release notes.

The two new features you will see are:

  • A back and history button for teleports
  • In-viewer web browsing (note that this does not yet support plugins like Flash).

A few important notes for the longtime SL resident:
  • You can access the build tools by going to View and enabling the build menu. Ctrl-3 still triggers "edit" and Ctrl-4 triggers "create" mode.
  • Familiar shortcuts still work, like alt-ctrl-shift-d still triggers the Client and Debug windows, ctrl-enter allows you to shout, ctrl-m pops up the map, and ctrl-shift-m pops up the mini-map.
  • We take privacy seriously, and for those concerned about this issue, we hope you read our privacy policy here.
